Everyone arrived by lunchtime on Saturday, set up and we had opening Flag at 4pm.
We were so blessed with the weather, having no rain at all throughout the seven days we were there. One hour after after closing Flag the rain came, and stayed. How lucky is that.
Throughout the week there was plenty of activity for those that wanted to join, and everyone did most of the time.
There was the Musicals Picture Quiz. Everyone had a musical title and drew the clue. All you had to do was identify the Musical and submit the answers by the end of the week. First prize went to Joan & Roy. Second prize went to Terry & Annette.
The Mr & Mrs Quiz, which was entered by three couples was such a laugh. It showed how much people are in touch with each other and how some of the basics about each other are not noticed. Terms of endearment like Love, Babe, Sweetheart, etc are not always the norm. One couples 'norm' was 'Oye'. There were several 'delays' in the Blue or Pink bats on various questions, one being who really was the one who cut back when finances were tight. the winner of the famous Jewel Crusted Clock, a prize and Certificate of Supreme Knowledge was Alan & Karen. Second prize went to Terry & Annette and third prize to Derek & Gina.
For three evenings we had Gone to the Dogs, two live dog races on TV where members were given £1,000 credit for the week to bet on the six races. The winner of the prize and Doctorate of Betting Certificate was Terry and Annette, closely followed by Derek & Gina, who won second prize.
Roger & Cynthia entertained us with music and dance on one of the fine evenings we had. It was lovely listening to music from the 60's and Country & Western, while Roger played his guitar to the music.
We had Prize Bingo on two afternoons. Winners of prizes were Gina, Christine, Dot, Derek, Roy and Betty.
The Kangaroo Derby was a hilarious event. Inflatable kangaroos were raced by members rolling up string on a 15mm pipe from 10 metres back. Hard work but fun to watch. All of the Kangaroos had names, some of which were Skippy, Kanga, Roo Knee, Randy Roo, Boomerang and Jumping Jack. There were two ladies heats and two men heats. The winners of each raced each other, two ladies and two men. The winner of the King of the Bush Certificate and prize was Michael. Second prize went to Karen.
On a lovely sunny afternoon we had a Chinese Raffle...twenty took part, twenty prizes. You pick a ticket, choose a prize and see if you can keep it. After five prizes the winner of the sixth and consecutive can pick someone elses prize instead of the number they won. Great fun and went on for an hour and a half.
The Week Bingo, where 15 numbers were put on the Notice Board daily was eventually won at final Flag by Betty, who received a prize.
We did a final draw for the Caravan Draw. The prize was a pair of Koala Bears and a key-ring, both of which were original Australian that we brought back from there recently.
Finally, we would like to thank all those that attended and made the rally the success it was, Thank You to Derek and Gina for being our co-marshals and to the site owners Craig and Sandra who spent two days sorting everyone's TV cables out so they could watch the TV in their caravans in the evenings.
Photos of the rally are being posted as we receive them in the 2016 Gallery section here:
